IFMSS Foundation

The IFMSS Foundation, a US charity, supports the IFMSS Society's mission to improve prenatal diagnosis and treatment. It provides ongoing funding and assists society presidents annually. Established in 2001, it aids society presidents with meeting costs, academic expenses, research awards, and travel funds for junior researchers. Donations solely support the Foundation's mission, with no salaries paid to board members.

IFMSS Foundation Overview

The IFMSS Foundation is a United States 501(c)3 Tax Exempt Charitable Foundation separate from the Society, per se. Our sole purpose is to support the mission of the IFMSS Society in promoting the advancement of methods to diagnose and treat fetal problems before birth.

The Foundation provides the official continuing, financial infrastructure for these continuing efforts, year to year, whereas the academic leadership of the Society changes every year as society presidents change annually and always from one country to another.

The Foundation supports the society presidents to:

  • have the upfront funding they need to organize their meeting, which is then returned to the Foundation to support future meetings,

  • help with some direct academic expenses of the meeting, and

  • fund the research presentations and travel awards.

Additionally, the Foundation provides the funding for the numerous Junior Investigator Awards we bestow designed to help launch academic careers in the fetal therapy field. These awards:

  • are based upon research quality,

  • acknowledge excellence in science, and

  • help defray expenses of junior investigators to attend the annual meeting and present their research.

Continuously in good standing with the IRS, the Foundation welcomes support from individuals, corporations, and other charitable organizations with 100% of proceeds going towards our mission. All Foundation board members donate their time completely.

IFMSS Foundation Board of Directors

The Foundation Board members are accomplished senior investigators – some of whom go back to the beginning of fetal surgery and medicine whose work has made sentinel contributions to the field.
